You all know it’s true.

This gig fell right in the middle of the fucking tube strikes, which made what is usually a sub 3 hour journey from Norwich into a near 5 hour monster. It didn’t help that the actual train to London was half an hour late as well. And it was too hot. Fuck public transport. Nevermind though, i finally got to see Fast Point again, having been wanting to see them since the first time, which was as far back as October. A combination of things meant i missed out on seeing them a few times before, so i was determined to make sure i got to this one, even if it made everyone hate me. Up until now when I’ve written about books I’ve focused on one specifically. But this time I’m going to talk about a few books. The main reason for this is my laziness, as I didn’t update this each time I finished a book. Anyway, I’ve read three books in the past week or so, and I’ll talk a little about each one and what I thought of them.

The first book I read was ‘After Dark’ by Haruki Murakami. Murakami is one of Japans best known and biggest selling authors, and widely considered to be one of the best as well. This is the first novel I had read of his after finally shelling out for a couple of his books, I had wanted to check him out for a while. This book focuses chronologically on the events of seven hours of one night in Tokyo, as you might have guessed from the title. Continue reading ‘Books i have finished in the last few days…’
I now have no brother.
New reviews and stuff up later.
Adam Yaunch of the Beastie Boys has released a video revealing that he has been diagnosed with cancer…
Luckily it seems they caught it early and it’s not too serious, and hopefully he’ll get better soon. As the video says, some upcoming shows have been affected and the new record has been delayed as a result. Get well soon!

As far as I know, the only people talking about this band are me and my housemate Robbie… plus quite a few people on the internet and Vice magazine, although that attracts its fair share of idiots posting comments underneath, the kind of idiots who think using the word ‘douche’ over and over again makes an opinion more valid. The thing is, Coke Bust, a band from Washington DC are far too good to not be talked about by more people, not just hipsters and my mate. Upon the first play of this record, I thought, this is good, but not great. I liked the other two 7″s I have, the Demo and ‘Fuck Bar Culture’ and so had anticipated this for a while. I wasn’t disappointed as such, but I was hoping for a bit more. Second time I gave it a proper listen and it just clicked, so much so that I was so impressed I put it back on again. Fuck me it’s so good. Continue reading ‘Coke Bust- Lines In The Sand’

All too often people dismiss Russell Brand, despite him a) being really quite funny and b) having done really good things. This is one of them good things. Without a doubt, this is the best interview i’ve heard with Morrissey, and the most i think he has been engaged by an interviewer. He’s notorious for not really doing interviews and when he does it’s usually rubbish as the interviewer is a twat or fails to interest Mozza… it’s just boring really. Whilst at times this one strays into sycophancy- Brand is clearly a huge fan and makes no effort to hide this, he actually ends up getting more out of Morrissey than those who try to ask awkward questions. When he isn’t giggling like a schoolboy fan that is. Continue reading ‘The best Morrissey interview ever…’

This is the first live review I have posted on here in about 6 months. So it is somewhat apt that I would resume with Government Warning, one of the finest hardcore bands around today. Thinking about it I’m not sure why that would be any more apt than any other band, but fuck it, opening sentences always suck. A couple of shows in recent weeks have rivalled it, but this was without doubt one of the best shows I’ve been to all year.
I dont really need to explain why this video fills me with so much joy do i?
My favourite Bad Seeds song, Jello Biafra, Nick Cave and Henry Rollins TOGETHER. AND the fact that Jello is dancing like he is at a wedding, AND Henry looks like a giddy child, AND does the awkward thing that people do when they get on stage…. despite probably having spent a significant proportion of his life on a stage of sorts.
Here is Henry talking about that moment, at one of his spoken word shows. His impression of Jello is brilliant.
Wonderful.
